4 Best Basketball Towels for 2022

This is my review of the best towels for basketball players to get this year.

The true ‘Ball-is-Life’ fanatics out there know that ball and grind go hand in hand. It’s late nights in the weight room and early morning on the court before practice.

There is no grind without sweat, and if there is sweat, you’re going to need to wipe it up.

A proper basketball towel is a necessity during practice or for a game. Sweaty and slippery hands is a sure fire way to get yourself a turn over and no one wants sweat in their eyes while taking a jumper from 22 feet.

That being said, you can’t just bring out any old towel to the court, leave your beach towel and towel at home.

Get yourself a real ballers towel, so when game day comes around you can keep yourself dry and your game sharp.

Quick Navigation

Who Should Get This?

Every responsible player should have their own personal towel to wipe them down during games, at practice, or in the weight room.

Other than that, a team can take the responsibility of purchasing bulk towels for their players to make use of.

You should never be caught lackin’ without your towel, and no one, I mean NO ONE, wants to share their game towel.

That’s just unhygienic. Without a towel to dry yourself off, you’ll make yourself a liability on offense and defense. Sweaty hands can’t grip a ball properly, let alone shoot in clutch time.

Needless to say, if you’re going onto the court you’re going to sweat it up. Then once you get subbed out, you’ll need to ready yourself for when coach needs you next.

This means getting yourself hydrated and dry, while at the same time keeping yourself warm. Two of those three things require a towel.

Best Basketball Towel: What to Consider in 2022

Size and Weight

You’re not getting a towel to dry yourself after a shower or a swim. A basketball towel should be somewhere between 3 feet to 4 feet on its longest side and shaped like a long rectangle.

The fabric should be light, thick enough to keep you warm, but thin enough to let in some airflow.

Fabric

Similar to what I stated in the section above. The particular fabric should not retain water well and be easily rung out dry.

This is especially important during games, since you will be accumulating a lot of sweat. You don’t want your towel getting you more sweaty when you use it.

Durability

The season is long, and the grind never ends. Make sure you get a towel with quality stitching and manufacturing. You don’t want to be buying another gym or work-out towel every month.

Cooling

Just a general rule of thumb you should never get anything cooling for your side-line towel, this is because you need to keep your muscles warm or you’ll run the risk of cramping.

This is why you see most players in the NBA put on sweatpants and cover themselves with towels.

Best Basketball Towel: Top Picks 2022

Gatorade is a trusted name on the side-line of any team. More than likely your team is using Gatorade made bottles and jugs, put that same confidence in their towels. While this towel is not the only towel Gatorade sells, it is their best. The perfect size for drying off and keeping warm on the side-line, great stitching and fabric. You can tell these towels were made by ball players, designed to grind with you through the season.

What we like:

  1. Quality 100% cotton.

  2. Quick dry capable.

  3. Soft to the touch.

  4. Solid manufacturing, can feel the quality with a touch.

  5. Great for keeping warm and draping over neck or head.

What we don’t like:

  1. Gatorade branding is a bit aggressive.

Sometimes you need to buy towels for the whole team, as the coach or equipment manager. You don’t want to get your team’s towels off the back of a truck, or risk getting sub-par towels. One player with an insufficient towel is bad enough, no imagine a whole team suffering from ‘bad-towelitus.’ A good rule of thumb is to have 2 towels per player, or 30 for a whole program. Since these towels are blank, go ahead and brand them with your team or school’s logo.

What we like:

  1. Blank, brandless towels are great for team branding.

  2. Quality stitching and fabric.

  3. Quick dry and extra absorbent.

  4. Available in a 6-pack, buy multiple for the whole team or program.

  5. Great for drying equipment as well.

What we don’t like:

  1. Towels are on the small side, best as work-out towel.

  2. Not great out of the box, needs to be washed with fabric softener to get them to quality.

  3. Make sure to wash it a couple of times to get the initial lint to come off.

If you know anything about me, you know that I trust anything used in NBA stadiums, or on-court during NBA games. That makes the towels no different. You may have not heard the name WinCraft before, but I’m sure you’ve seen their towels during games. What’s also great is that they have a towel for all 30 NBA teams, meaning you can rep your favorite NBA team during all your games.

What we like:

  1. A towel for every NBA team, I’m a sucker for team spirit.

  2. Great for fans who want to rally behind their teams.

  3. High quality double stitched towels.

  4. NBA quality. Licensed and approved by the league.

  5. Bright colors and fully sublimated logos make for a beautiful towel.

What we don’t like:

  1. Nothing to see here.

Less flash and but more function. These towels by Sinland are all about getting the job done. The microfiber fabric used is specially designed to be extra absorbent and allow for quick drying functionality. This towel will for sure get you dry, it might not turn heads, but that is what your game is for.

What we like:

  1. High quality specialty fabric, quick dry and extra absorbent.

  2. Solid stitching feels high-end.

  3. Comes in a pack of 3, for a handy rotation for consecutive grind days.

What we don’t like:

  1. Dull looking towel.

  2. Might be too thick for some, but warmer is always better.

Final Words

The grind is long. It’s heavy on the body and taxing on the soul, but it’s all in the name of ball. No matter what level you are into your balling journey the grind can look the same.

Hard-work, dedication, and buckets on buckets of sweat. To stay sharp you need to keep your skin dry and your muscles warm. Preparation is the difference between 1st half burn-outs and 4th quarter kings.

Get yourself a proper side-line towel, call it lucky, and get ready to get back in the game.
